Chapter 2 of the Bedford Book of Genres discussed the topic of "Narrative Genres." There are many ways of writing and telling a story, there are numerous genres. But the writer has to choose between the many rhetorical situations such as purpose, audience, rhetorical appeals, elements of the genre, style, design, and sources. There are so many different types of genres that some I personally never would've considered to be counted as a genre. Some of them include ancient symbols and pictures drawn on the walls from the Greeks. Another that was discussed in the chapter was an obituary. It was proven that there aren't many rules when it comes to categorizing writing as a narrative, it basically says that the writing has to tell some sort of story.
